South Africa - A Massive Strike is on the Horizon
A Remake of 18th Century France.

The South African “Government of National Unity” (GNU) collapsed on 19 February 2025, stricken with a terminal case of political paralysis. What exactly the “Unity” in GNU stands for, when two major parties making up its ranks - the DA and Freedom Front Plus - voted against its proposed budget at the first possible opportunity, is a mystery that has perplexed the Machiavellian spin doctors and populist prognosticators ever since. The patient is now on life support in intensive care, and since no-one has been able to blow any life into it, the moment is approaching for the plug to be pulled.
But let’s be honest, this “GNU crisis” is just a symptom of a deeper disease. Ordinary South Africans, like myself, have long realized that the Government is there to help themselves, not us. Selah and Ikabod to John Locke’s Social Contract. The ANC, just like the inhumane NP Government that preceded it, is too blind to realize that suppression of Freedom and Hope will always lead to an uprising. It did in 18th Century France, and it will again in 21st Century South Africa.
With a rather subdued “Land Reclamation Day” behind us, where the EFF experienced strong pushback from ordinary people in the street as it campaigned for the theft of land from farmers, it has become clear that no leader in South Africa any longer holds the ability to rally a massive number of supporters into the kind of mass action that might change our Nation. However, many spontaneous strikes have been occurring here recently, with even the SA Police striking and blocking off major highways at will. The tax increase proposed in the new SA Budget will hurt those who are already suffering under the ANC’s incompetent leadership, and the people of South Africa are fed-up.
Consequences will follow.
You cannot lie to your supporters for 30 years about a “better life for those who were hurt by Apartheid”, then destroy their land without ever making anything better, and finally tax them to death to compensate for the fact that a Wise World Leader has conclusively called your corrupt bluff and turned off your American Cash-on-tap. People can tell when you don’t give a damn about them or their safety, and in South Africa this is especially true. Our Police Force and Army are, rightfully, the laughing stock of the world, and the only thing keeping our fingertips clawed to the Edge is the intervention of our Private Security Firms. However, with the malicious and comically inept new legislation for Security Personnel proposed by the ANC, in terms whereof 600,000 hardworking, effective Security Officers will have to apply 7 days in advance (therefore requiring the gift of Clairvoyance) for the privilege of using pepper spray or anything stronger (in a country that is the crime capitol of the world), I can see the future. The People will rise up, as they always do.
A Populist Strike is coming in South Africa, and it promises to be big. Really big. Prepare accordingly.
